Deflazacort should not be used if you are allergic to it. It should not be given to the children younger than 2 years old. The oral suspension (liquid) contains an ingredient that can cause serious side effects or can cause death in very young or premature babies.

Long term usage of this medicine may lead to bone loss (Osteoporosis), especially if you smoke, if you do not exercise, if you do not get vitamin D or calcium in your diet then the chances of having Osteoporosis may increase. It is also risky to take Deflazacort during pregnancy as it may affect the adrenal gland hormones in the new born.
